Feeling as though our performance was destined for failure I thought it was needed to get everyone motivated, that we knew our lines and that this performance would be one of our best.

Things didn't look too great in our last rehearsal before the show either, with Jake having to go with his other group in the other class to rehearse with them, we were left with a group member down and no real space to rehearse hours before our final performance we were a little nervous. With little rehearsal time before the show and no real run through with the lights, sounds and costume we were worried. This gave us inspiration for the girls costumes.Ī group of Modernist men surround their scooters, all dressed in smart clothing. The girls wore skirts and blouses fitting with the women's fashion during this time period.Ī group of teens during the Modernist period. We considered Parka coats but we knew these would be too hot to perform in so settled for what the Mods wore in the warmer months. In our performance we all wore shirts, ties, smart shoes, slim fitting trousers and Harrington jackets or suit jackets this we believe would be quite fitting for the performance. Very different to their rivals, the Rockers, who wore leather jackets, jeans and didn't care about getting dirty. Mods or “the modernists” were known to be fashion obsessed, and strived to be smart and sharp. With smart slim fitting suits, parkas and Harrington jackets, I was looking forward to this performance. If we were to truly act like mods, we had to have the look. With fashion having a high priority within British teens during the sixties, our costumes had to fit the mod "Look".
